Left Bank, a new restaurant and bar by veteran Vancouver restaurateur, John Blakeley, is now open at 751 Denman Street. Featuring a generous 35 seat patio, the bright and bustling room is punctuated with red Tolix chairs, and icon of French industrial design, alongside living herbs, natural wood finishes, and clear glass pendent lighting. Large windows that open onto Denman, a long bar, authentic leather banquet and lounge seating create ideal zones for catching up with friends or popping in and enjoying the ambience on one’s own.

In the kitchen, Spencer Watts, has expanded his role as executive chef at Left Bank’s sister restaurant, Bistro Pastis. Watts has created a modern French bistro menu with unmistakeable influence from the French colonies. Many menu items are available to take away for picnics in the park. Left Bank is a casual restaurant with price points to match. The bar menu starts at $2.50 per item and steak frite tops out at $22. And did we mention that Watts is the 2012 World Culinary Olympics Team Canada silver medalist?

Front of house, the team is led by restaurant manager Guillaume Cagna, who extends Blakeley’s brand of genial hospitality with natural Parisian grace in the very Vancouver room.

Wines are predominantly French with ample by the glass and rose selections, as well as exclusively craft beer choices, and a curated selection of sparkling, long and classic cocktails. Left Bank offers $5 wine from 4pm to 6pm, $8 cocktails on Tuesday nights; and $10 corkage on #WineWednesday.

Left Bank is now open for happy hour and dinner weeknights from 4pm and from 10:30am, on Saturday, Sunday and holidays for brunch through dinner. Later this month, Left Bank will open for weekday lunch. Want to learn more? Check out their website or follow them at @LeftBankVan.
